R. Chris Newman joined the Richmond office of Lawyers Title in 2003. Chris is responsible for identifying clients with nationally oriented title needs and acting as the point person for those accounts once a relationship has been established. He and his team handle office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family and hospitality asset classes as well as medical facilities and senior living communities. He has coordinated both single and multi-site transactions nationwide including numerous portfolios in excess of 150 sites each.

My goal is to be far more than just a service provider. Becoming a true business partner means understanding in detail how each of my clients operates, anticipating their needs and doing whatever I can possibly do to help them achieve their objectives. I want to be an invaluable ally to every one of them.

Chris is a previous lecturer at the Real Estate Investment Securities Association's annual conference and has extensive expertise with tax deferred exchange (“1031”), Tenant in Common (“TIC”) and Delaware Statutory Trust (“DST”) transactions having coordinated settlement and negotiated title coverage on billions of dollars of securitized real estate for over 25 different sponsors. Between 2012 and 2014, he coordinated settlement and negotiated title coverage for numerous multi-site sale-leaseback transactions totaling in excess a billion dollars in closed transaction values. Over the past decade, he has developed broad recognition for his customer-orientation, rapid responsiveness and creative problem resolution skills.

Chris holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Real Estate and Urban Land Development from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MBA from the University of Richmond.
