Douglas M. Atkins joined Fidelity National Title Insurance Company's Richmond, VA office as Commercial Counsel and Senior Account Executive in 2008. He is a Vice President, Senior Commercial Counsel that coordinates complex commercial real estate transactions for local and national customers. Doug provides commercial title insurance and closing services for multi-site, multi-state transactions as well as single site transactions. He has closed federal EB-5 program transactions. In conjunction with commercial title insurance, Doug also coordinates other due diligence services as required in acquisitions, leasing and financing of commercial property. His largest transaction exceeded $1.5 billion and included more than 250 sites located across 12 states. Doug has extensive experience in new construction projects involving mechanic's lien concerns.

Closing a commercial real estate transaction is a lot like herding cats. There are several due diligence components other than title insurance needed to close a transaction. None of those components like to be herded and each one has its own significant value to the closing. Obstacles can sometimes easily distract a service provider from the task at hand and derail a closing. It is my job to gather all the due diligence cats together, focusing them on the task at hand and herd
